Phonics for Kids will keep your preschooler engaged in a fun and educational activity for hours. This app teaches phonetic letter sounds and how to construct and read basic words. The child hears each word accompanied by a cute, high quality, picture representing the word and is encouraged to pop bubbles containing the correct phonetic sounds. The app can be configured to provide audio phonetic hints after wrong answers, or after a short period of inactivity. As the child progresses the app can be configured to add additional random letter sounds to increase complexity. Throughout the app, positive encouragement and rewards are provided to keep the child engaged and entertained.

The full version includes 4 selectable levels that introduce basic constants and vowels, digraphs, diphthongs and silent letters plus an additional bonus level that covers basic colors. The free version is fully functional but includes only a small sample of words from each level.

 

Level 1 includes 26 words such as CAT, MOM and FROG that teach constants (hard and soft) and vowels (long and short).

Level 2 adds 34 more words such as SHIP, KING and BELL that teach the digraphs CH, SH, TH, WH, QU, KN, NG, LL and CK.

Level 3 adds 48 additional words such as CLOWN, MOUSE and READ that teach the diphthongs AI, AIR, AR, AW, AY, EA, EE, EW, IE, IR, OA, OI, OO, OR, OU, OW and OY.

Level 4 adds 10 additional words such as LAKE, CAKE and PLANE that demonstrate silent letters – primarily the final letter ‘E’.

Level 5, the bonus level, covers basic colors including BLACK, WHITE, RED, GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, PINK, PURPLE and ORANGE.

Both the paid and free version are ad free, do not require any special permissions and can be installed to the SD Card.
